Fijn nieuw geluid uit Schotland: maak kennis met Be Charlotte. Een album is er nog niet, maar wel twee geweldige singles: Drawing Windows en onze favoriet Machines That Breathe. Daarbij stond de band al op grote festivals als T In The Park en SXSW.
Een grote belofte dus, zo zou je de band rondom singer-songwriter Charlotte Brimner met gemak kunnen noemen. Zo was het onlangs The Independent die ze op een lijstje gooide met Ones To Watch in 2017. “Brimner has a wonderfully expressive vocal range that she incorporates with spoken word, rap and beatboxing,” tekende de Britse kwaliteitskrant op. Nog paar quotes? “Inteli-pop with a naturally elastic vocal range and a preternatural ability with melody,” zegt Clash Mag. Of deze van Gigwise: “The ambitious sonics are comfortably up there with the greatest pop productions of our time.”
De negentienjarige Brimner omschrijft het zelf iets compacter: “Be Charlotte is all about the damn good vibes.” En daar is geen woord Chinees bij.
