Begin april verschijnt het debuutalbum Introducing… The Pink Stones van de gelijknamige Amerikaanse band afkomstig uit R.E.M. town Athens, Georgia. Hun heerlijke sound doet denken aan dat van jaren 90 countryrockbands als Uncle Tupelo, The Grievious Angels en Bottle Rockets. Hunter Pinkston leidt de band, maar ook John Neff, bekend van Drive-By Truckers, speelt er in mee. Het groepsgevoel is sowieso belangrijk voor Pinkston, zo laat hij weten:
“When I first started working on my own songs I was going to do the singer-songwriter thing. I’d like to say I had a plan in place for everything, but when I started meeting and playing with these dudes, it altered my course. By the time we were ready to make the record I made it clear I’m not the singer-songwriter and the rest are just a backing band — we’re a group that plays and creates music together.”
