Uit Denemarken komt het mooie geluid van The Migrant. In dat land is het album Flood al een tijdje uit, maar vanaf 16 oktober kunnen we ‘m nu ook eindelijk in ons land bij de lokale platenboer halen. Luisterend naar single ‘Climbers’ is dat goed nieuws.
Spil rondom de band is Bjarke Bendtsen, die Nirvana noemt als de band die hem als veertienjarige destijds wakker schudde en gitaar deed oppakken. Het land Amerika trok hem ook, en al gauw vertrok hij daarheen om muziek te maken. Hij zegt daarover:
The great thing about the US is that there are so many different kinds of people there. I mean there’s a big main stream that sucks, microwave food, fear TV, fat people, drive in banks, too powerfull cooperations etc., but because of this main stream is so ugly there are so many people that react strongly against i tand a lot of really cool communities, oases, have popped up everywhere. So I pretty much just jumped from one oasis to another, and one of them is Austin, Texas.
En in Austin heeft Bjarke zelfs een eigen backing band, die hem ondersteund tijdens zijn optredens aan die kant van de grote plas. Hier in Europa heeft bestaat zijn band uit muzikanten uit Kopenhagen, wat nog altijd zijn thuishaven is.
