Het Canadese Bravestation hebben we hier op Gobsmag al een tijdje op de korrel. De laatste keer dat we van van ze hoorden was twee jaar geleden, maar dat betekende niet dat ze stil hebben gezeten. ‘Up For You’ is een gloednieuw liedje en wakkert onze liefde voor ze weer aan.

Bij de buren van Clash Music vertelt de band:

We were excited to finally work with pros and compiled like 30+ electronic-based demos on our laptops in anticipation of recording with these guys, but in the last week of the writing process we started jamming as a band for the first time when the idea for ‘Up For You’ came to life. From all the songs they had to pick from, Michael and Jason chose the two that we wrote in the final couple of days as their favs after months of demoing…”

Niks meer aan doen.

Het is al weer drie jaar geleden dat het uit Toronto afkomstige Bravestation ondergetekende verraste met een prima debuutep’tje White Wolves. De daarop volgende langspeler (Giants & Dreamers, 2012) wist echter niet te overtuigen en daarmee verdween de interesse ook weer.

Totdat er een e-mailtje binnenkwam. Een kort berichtje uit Canada: Bravestation heeft getekend bij het Canadese label Culvert Music en er komt een nieuwe EP aan, genaamd V. En: “It’s their most focused and accessible collection of songs to date, channeling ‘80s New Wave, Modern Rock, Synthpop, Post-Punk to create their own imaginative version of pop.” De eerste single van die nieuwe EP heet Haven, en ja hoor, dat klinkt weer erg fijn. Misschien gaat het dan allemaal toch nog goed komen.
