Susto werkt! (7.5)

De mannen en dame van SUSTO komen uit Charleston. In januari brachten ze een nieuwe plaat, I’m Fine Today, uit. Verkrijgbaar via hun Bandcamp, Spotify blijft hier helaas achter. Gelukkig staat single Jah Werx er sinds kort wel op. We horen een Band of Horses-achtig liedje. Met een heel klein beetje Lumineers wellicht (qua vocals).

Inspiratie voor Jah Werx haalde de band uit Bob Marley. Jah is het rasta-woord voor God en Jah Works betekent in het rastafari God is Good. “It’s a song about community, about being there for one another when it’s needed; but also it’s a song about the cyclical nature of life and existence. So many lifetimes have been lived on this earth, but at the end of each one, a body returns to the ground and rejoins the rest of nature. I think it’s beautiful that we all get to experience that cycle and see the miracle of life on earth.”
