Met The Shadow Of Heaven bracht de uit Manchester afkomstige band MONEY twee jaar geleden een even fascinerende als prachtige plaat uit. Begin 2016 komt de opvolger: Suicide Songs. Drie liedjes zijn inmiddels online te vinden: You Look Like A Sad Painting On Both Sides Of The Sky, Cocaine Christmas And An Alcholic’s New Year én I’ll Be The Night.
Gezellige titels, merk je op. Wij ook, maar we waren dus ook al wat gewend van MONEY. Ze gaan nu dus nog iets dieper. “I wanted the album to sound like it was ‘coming from death’ which is where these songs emerged,” vertelt zanger Jamie. “The record is morbid and bleak, and never resolves itself. The only real kind of triumphant realisation is being able to express the morbidity of the situation I found myself in.”
Goed. Morbid and bleak dus. Zolang je er niet in verzuipt, klinkt het prachtig. Fijne dagen!
